The Grow Room: A Haunted House Experience Like No Other
Step into The Grow Room… If You Dare!
From October 30th to November 2nd, 2024, BUDSSMOKE turned the basement of our Scarborough location into something truly terrifying—a haunted house unlike any other. The Grow Room was not your typical Halloween attraction. This was an interactive horror experience with prizes on the line, where groups of up to five people stepped into a cannabis grow-op gone horribly wrong.
The premise? An experimental strain has mutated the lab staff, turning them into something… unnatural. Your mission? Make it out alive.
A Horror Experience Tailor-Made for Cannabis Lovers
We know our audience, and we know they crave thrills, chills, and an experience that hits different. Whether you’re a horror fanatic, a cannabis enthusiast, or just someone looking for a wild night out, The Grow Room delivered.
Each experience was approximately 20-minutes of jump scares and puzzle solving, within a 3500 sq ft custom set, designed by artists in SEQUENCE. Attendees became honorary members of a secret bio-contamination unit, tasked with finding signs of life through hidden messages, collecting samples for the cure, and gathering intel on a mysterious creature that lurks in the basement lab. If each team completed all 3 major tasks, they were awarded prizes during their debrief, including accessories, apparel, Halloween masks, and much more!
A Community of Horror-Loving BUDS
We saw faces from all over the GTA—students, professionals, creatives, and die-hard horror fans—all braving the unknown. People came for the scares, stayed for the vibes, and left with an unforgettable experience.
And let’s talk about our cast—the dedicated volunteer actors who transformed into grotesque, unrecognizable versions of their former selves. Their commitment to creeping out every single guest? Oscar-worthy.
A Killer Turnout
With an estimated over 110 attendees across four nights, The Grow Room was a great success for the first of many community haunted houses. This event not only gave a great experience to our attendees, but also created a buzz that had Scarborough talking about the new shop on the block.
