MEET MAC!
Mac is one of our most knowledgeable budtenders and part of what makes BUDSSMOKE so special. He brings with him years of experience, not only with the understanding of cannabis strains but also with the significance and use of cannabis accessories; specializing predominantly in heady glass. If you’ve been to our Burlington shop, you may have noticed some of the unreal pieces on display. That’s Mac’s showcase and artistic eye for glassware from local artists.
Prior to working as a budtender, Mac attended Niagara College, where he graduated from the Greenhouse Technician Program. As a graduate, he spent some time working with both Tweed and Gage Cannabis Co. until an unfortunate knee injury caused him to change his career path.
Taking some time to recover, he worked in a local head shop gaining knowledge on all things accessories; he learned the importance of the accessories involved with each cannabis experience and how he could educate others.
Now as an influential member of the glass community for the last 4.5 years, he has expanded his ability and has successfully launched his own brand @macsglassart (February 2021) which displays some of the most intricate pieces you will ever see!
“The idea for Mac’s Glass came from developing a passion for handmade glass. I’ve always enjoyed my herb, and have had an interest in art for as long as I can remember. As soon as I was introduced to the ‘heady glass’ community I was hooked– from sculpting to colour combinations to original artist ideas! “ – Mac .
Having high-quality glass is beneficial for the consumer. Not only will the product last longer, but it will also get you a higher quality toke with each hit. Mac loves to work with artists who are innovative, creative, and live locally. These glassblowers have heavily invested in their craft and pride themselves on their products, so as an incentive they are happy to repair any of their work. For those who primarily use a bong or pipe, investing in one high-quality piece can save you a lot of money. Average starter glass pieces range from $50-$200 with consumers often needing to replace their pieces every year or so, but with hand-blown glass, from @macsglassart, you’ve got a piece for life!
As a long-time consumer, Mac loves to incorporate cannabis into his life.
He explains, “Cannabis and art go hand in hand. Weed opens your mind to new ideas and experiences. From music to drawings, sculptures, cinema, and clothing. Cannabis can change your perspective on something you once never thought was for you. Not to mention getting the creative juices flowing. There is endless art to be made and discovered. And cannabis just helps with the search.”—Mac
To help him relax and open his mind to new ideas, Mac loves a good pink strain. He looks for heavy strains with gassy notes. The bong is his preferred smoking method.
